Terms
Terms of service (draft)
Draft version 0.1 — requires legal review before publication.
1. What DollarSafe is — and is not
DollarSafe is software that helps you see how much of your own money is safe to spend today. It is not a bank, not a lender, not a money transmitter, not a financial adviser, and not an insurance provider. It does not hold, move or custody your funds, and it does not provide financial, tax or legal advice.
The app produces recommendations. It never locks you out of your own money, and it cannot stop a transaction. Decisions are yours.
2. Accuracy
Safe to Spend is only as accurate as the data behind it. In manual mode that means what you type. In connected mode it means what your institution reports, including timing differences between pending and posted activity. Balances can be stale, holds can change, and institutions can report late.
The Golden Rule is deliberately conservative: money that has not arrived is never counted as spendable. Even so, you should not treat the number as a guarantee that a payment will clear.
3. Your account
- You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure.
- You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
- You may not use the service to break the law or to access someone else's financial data without their permission.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Plans are described on the pricing page: Connected at $6.99 per month for up to 3 institutions, $9.99 per month for more than 3, and a $79.99 annual option covering the more-than-3 tier. Pricing is still being tested and may change.
TODO Billing is not connected. There is no checkout, no trial terms, no renewal terms and no refund policy in force yet. Payment terms, renewal notice, cancellation effect and refund handling must be written and reviewed before any charge is ever taken.
5. Connected accounts
If you use connected mode, you authorise the app and its aggregation provider to read the account data needed for the calculation. You choose which accounts participate and you can withdraw that authorisation. TODO Identify the provider and incorporate its terms.
6. Availability
We aim for the service to be available and correct, but this draft offers no uptime commitment and no service level agreement. Features may change, and parts of the product are explicitly unfinished — see status and known issues.
7. Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. DollarSafe is not liable for overdrafts, declined payments, missed bills, fees, or other losses arising from decisions you make using the number. TODO Jurisdiction-appropriate limitation of liability, indemnity and dispute resolution wording is required and has not been drafted.
8. Termination
You can stop using DollarSafe at any time from Settings. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or put other users at risk. TODO Notice periods and appeal path undecided.
9. Changes
When these terms become effective they will carry a version and effective date, and material changes will be announced in the app before they apply.

Both documents need legal review before launch, and both say so plainly.
